I'm just a fun-loving cat lady obsessed with anything Boho-inspired and who loves to spend her day eating coffee-flavored ice cream in bed.
I'm undeniably German regarding punctuality and taking everything literally, but unlike the common misconception about Germans, I have a great sense of humor.
Why should you bring your pet chicken to your family session?
Baw-cause it makes for the most unique family portraits and keeps your kids entertained!
We couldn’t have picked a hotter day for this outdoor session at Towne Park, but we had fun regardless. We started the session by playing some of the kids’ favorite tunes, which helped loosen up Mom and Dad while allowing everyone to shake off the jitters and seemingly uncomfortable and scary aspects of “having your pictures taken.” Once the boys got restless, Dad went with them to explore, which was the perfect opportunity to get sweet photos of just Mom with her girls.
Once the boys returned, it was time for the star of the show – their pet chicken! I’ve had families bring their dogs to sessions, but never a chicken, and I must say – I’m in love with the photos and the undeniable excitement on the kid’s faces.
But if you ever expect a family session to go smoothly, let me tell you there is always something – in this case, button-pushing brothers that upset their little sister. She had spotted a single purple flower across the field, but once her brothers noticed her excitement, they had to have it, too. Her little legs simply couldn’t keep up with her brothers, so she lost the race, and they plucked the one flower she truly wanted. She rightfully threw a fit, and once she got her flower back, she was all smiles again.
We finished up the session with some solo shots of Mom and Dad, and on our way back, Dad found the mini drone he had lost in the field the year prior. What are the odds? It even survived the controlled field burn, and the Morton family, the charred drone, and the chicken lived happily ever after.
